Program

Preliminary general program:

Check here the general program.

Definitions of participation modalities:

Themed sessions: panels of between 4 and 6 papers of 15 minutes of duration each, with a subsequent discussion and a total duration of 2 hours. We consider 74 sessions of 39 panels with 537 papers accepted.

Discussions: Conversations of 2 hours that complement the themed sessions, and whose objective is the listening and collective learning among all participants. There are two formats: open and closed discussions.

The open discussions are facilitated by a person with experience in the topic being addressed. They begin with a brief introduction by the facilitator and the proposal of some trigger questions. The participants are then invited to participate so that everyone can make their own contributions based on their own experiences. To allow everyone who wishes to speak to do so, the interventions will be short, between 3 and 5 minutes maximum, and the number of times the floor will be taken will depend on the number of people who wish to speak.

Closed discussions are facilitated by the organizing committee, which invites people with experience in the subject matter to share their knowledge. The facilitator opens the discussion, and the invited persons take the floor at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes, in two rounds, so that the final half hour is devoted to questions or comments from the other people present. The facilitation makes a closing. We consider the realization of 9 discussions (5 in open format and 4 in closed format).

Workshops: Dialogic space where experiences, teachings and learning are exchanged in a didactic way, guided by a creative, created and applied methodology, defined by the facilitators, with educational and community purposes. We contemplate the realization of 10 workshops in two sessions of two hours each.

Graphic material exhibition: During the week of the event, specific places in our venues will be enabled for the exhibition of maps, infographics, photographic compositions and other formats of original graphic pieces. The times at which the 9 accepted pieces will be presented will be detailed later.

Film debate: The first two hours of the session will be devoted to the presentation and sequential viewing of one medium-length and two short films. Subsequently, in the next half hour, a debate and sharing of the films will take place among the people present in relation to the relevant themes for the conference. We consider 3 sessions of 3 films each.

Book presentations: In parallel to the film debate sessions at UNAM, 12 book presentations will be held. In each of the two sessions, the authors will briefly explain their books in a sequential manner and the last half hour will be reserved for discussion and sharing in relation to the relevant topics for the conference.

Field trips: We consider the realization of 4 field trips to different places in Mexico City and its surroundings, which will last a whole day, on Thursday, October 26. In specific areas of UNAM defined by the organization, information about each of them will be available so that those interested can decide and communicate which one they wish to join.
Assembly: Plenary space for deliberation on the scope and challenges of critical geographies in the current context, as well as the ICCG as a form of meeting and organization. There will be an initial dialogue by people with experience on this topic, lasting one hour, and then 3 hours of assembly open to all participants in the conference.
